Ok guys, so this is the time of year when I start deciding where I am going for the Holidays. As most of you know, I am an actress and the Holidays (capitalized) are the only time of year I can go out of town without Panicking (also capitalized.) And by that I mean, aside from a Strike, it’s the only time of the year when I won’t be missing out on acting jobs (real or potential.) In my life as a very successful artist, I have had to either cancel or change trips 5 times. That’s enough for me to learn my lesson. SO, I started thinking about WHERE I would like to go. Of course, France is on the top of the list, but I’m becoming increasingly aware that maybe there are other parts of the world worth exploring. Like New York City. Now, I have been to NYC on multiple occasions, but never as a tourist. I’ve always been to see friends and in fact, I have never stayed in a hotel there. And I LOVE staying in hotels. So what with the unfavorable exchange rate and the high potential of French jet lag, I started my research. Well, imagine my dismay and surprise when I learned that to go to New York City for 7 days is more expensive than going to Paris for the exact same period of time. For airfare and hotel in Manhattan for 7 nights over Christmas (for 1 person) the grand total is approximately $2500. And that is for a hotel with BUNK BEDS (completely capitalized) and cardboard furniture in a not so good part of town (I think). It’s weird for me to realize that I know Paris better than I know New York, but I do. So, for me to go to Paris for that same period of time and stay in what I know to be a perfectly reasonable part of town is $1900. So what’s a girl to do? Je ne sais pas. Je dois faire plus de recherche.

NYC! I know you love hotels, but our sofabed is free, our train line is express, and our view is great. And we’re even probably going to North Carolina for part of that time, so you could have the place to yourself and feed some sweet Taiwanese kitties!
